July 27th

Clear blue skies and hot direct sun. We expect this to be the intense part of the summer and the last few days have not disappointed. There's quite a bit of small boat traffic and a few large luxury yachts.

July 22nd

This is definately on of the windiest summers we've had. We're lucky to be in the protected Inlet areas. However, combined with the strong sunshine the snow pack has disappeared quickly and the forest is drying out.

July 15th

The Eagle (see the boat at the bottom left of the falls) at Freil Falls with a special charter group. We also saw the Sechelt Rapids (see out tour schedule) at 12 knots, visited a fish farm, saw an oyster farm and went to look at the pictographs. Quite an afternoon!

July 10th

We're in a great cycle for viewing the Sechelt Rapids. Today there were a couple of very high skilled paddlers there.

June 20

Today we ran a special program. We picked up a group in Saltery Bay and did a unique tour through Blind Bay, Jervis Inlet and Skookumchuck Narrows. We visited Sechelt Rapids at the peak flow period, then enjoyed lunch at the Bakceddy.

Look for our Skookumchuck Narrows tour schedule. It was just added to the web site and is now available for booking. Add a voucher to relax at the Backeddy for dinner.

June 17

We've been watching the commercial fishermen working the prawn fishery all spring. Now the season is close to closing. This is the last for this season.

June 14

This was a great day; with a group from Wells Gray Tours. We took a large group up Inlet to Princess Louisa in beautiful weather. With special groups like this we can cater a lunch and spend extra time doing special things along the way.

June 12

We chartered the Eagle for the summer tour season and began running her today. It's a bigger boat than our B-Line, with a few more comfort features. Now that loads are bigger that will be important.

Early June

We've had some low tides. This is a great time to observe the marine life in the inter tidal zone. Here we can see anemone, starfish, sunstars, kelps, algae and seaweekds. It's full of colour and mystery.

What a treat to get some rain. Overall our year has been very dry. Now with a bit of moisture the waterfalls are running. Everything green has burst into flower. You can just about watch the forest grow!

May 30th

This may be the smallest bear cubs I've ever seen. It was a really young sow who had no fear of us at all. We watched her eat seafood for quite a while. At a respectful distance we could see her clearly but it was tough to get detailed photos without more advanced equipment.

With a bit more rainfall recently there were more waterfalls than in the last couple of days. If the rain continues we'll see a lot more water begin to flow!

May 23rd

The evening trip was really fun. It was a surprise at how different things look at a new time of day. The sun came out and we were treated to spectacular lighting throughout the Inlet.

May 21st

We've seen a lot of black bears this spring. They come to the exposed inner tidal zone at low tide to eat shellfish. Their tongue can open oysters and mussels and lick the meat out.

May 15th

We're starting to see more runoff from snow melt. On these warm evenings there is no freeze cycle to bind moisture in solid form (ice). If we get a couple days of rain then things will really start to run!

May 13th

At the request of one of the B&B operators we ran a special trip in to see the big currents in Sechelt Rapids. On the big spring tides the flow gets really fast, and really powerful.

May 12th

it's starting to get busier at the Provincial Park. There are several visiting boats. Many are regulars who come through every year at this time.

May 11th

It was a real pleasure today to be able to go out with a group of owners from the B&B Association. Their efforts to tour around the coast and stay up to date with facilities and attractions is commendable.

We went out for quick trip to see the current flow in Sechelt Rapids. Also during the day the group visited the Egmont Heritage Museum and enjoyed gourmet snacks in the Backeddy Restaurant.

May 1st

A charter program included a visit to Sechelt Rapids during a big ebb flow.

April 25th

This group came to us asking for somethin special. We modified out Highlights Tour to fit their timetable and had a wonderful outing.

April 15th

Recent snows have blanketed the upper slopes.

April 14th

What a beautiful day! The soft light, strong contrast, clean white snow make spring one of the best times to see the Inlet.

April 4th & 7th

It's been beautiful! Waterfalls are still small and will stay so until either the rain or the melt starts. Arctic fronts bring the snow level low overnight.
